Chairmans News 2025

As was the case last year, we again had an awful night of wind and rain for our recent AGM but nevertheless had a fair turnout of members all the same.
The outgoing Committee were again all re-elected for this coming year. It was agreed that the membership fees remain the same this year for all categories, adult membership, juvenile membership etc.
While we have a fair amount of active juvenile members, we would like to see more youngsters get involved in the club.
It was also agreed that fees for our 1 day tickets, 3 day tickets and weekly tickets for non-members remain the same this year.
Day tickets will continue to be available from Fields Supervalu in Skibbereen town.
I would urge non-members availing of our day ticket scheme to have the ticket on their person at all times and tickets must be purchased prior to commencing fishing.
The River Ilen Anglers club received a great boost recently as a result of its successful tender applications to Inland Fisheries Ireland for 7 of their fisheries on the river.
Without going into specifics in this piece, our official map will soon be updated to show our new fisheries but we now have miles of additional fishing to enjoy.
We look forward to working closely and in partnership with inland Fisheries Ireland in managing and developing their extensive River Ilen fisheries going forward.

So, to both members and day ticket holders alike I would like to wish you all tight lines for the coming season.

I would ask that full respect be given to landowners property with special regards to livestock, gates, styles, parking, electric fences, pathways, litter etc.
Be mindful of roadside parking. Fish where you see club signs, in club waters, in accordance with the official River Ilen Anglers Club map.
If in doubt please check with a member of the committee.

Regards
Mick Jones
